A more connected, accessible Chatham County is underway following the April 16 NCDOT ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the newest section of Chatham Park Way.
The newly completed segment extends nearly one mile north from the U.S. 64 interchange area, improving access to the Chatham Park, MOSAIC and Northwood Landing, as well as supporting long-term plans for regional growth and development.
Local leaders highlighted the collaborative effort that made the project possible. “This project is the result of a lot of hard work and strong partnerships,” says Pittsboro Mayor Kyle Shipp, recognizing the close teamwork between the NCDOT, Chatham County, the Town of Pittsboro and development partners.
Future phases are already in the works, with the next section slated to connect to U.S. 15-501. The completed Chatham Park Way will span approximately 6.9 miles and provide a vital north-south corridor.
Chatham County Commissioner Katie Kenlan says, “Roads like this don’t just move cars. They support jobs, strengthen economic development and improve the quality of life for our residents.”
