79°West: Stringman Demo
May 6 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Nathaniel Nifong, founder of Neufangled Robotics, will be demonstrating Stringman – a room scale crane robot made for household pick and place tasks.
Household robotics is rapidly developing along two tracks: high cost humanoids, and cheap desktop arms. Cable driven parallel robots are a seldom used alternative that keep costs low while having extraordinary reach. Stringman is one such robot, that aims to make it easy to use imitation learning or eventually open source foundation models to do certain household chores while not having to balance, navigate a messy floor, or carry a battery.
This event will be part demo, and part education, with a talk on the state of 3D printed and open source robotics and imitation learning and what their greatest achievements have been over the past year.
